Show and Tell

Couldn't help but show off a planter and planting that I did the other day.  I wouldn't call it native, but it is quite fetching (if I do say so myself!).  We're going for a sun-drenched minimalist Mediterranean theme here, and the photo above shows a transition.  The Festuca idahoensis towards the back will ring this bed while the Sage and Aeonium will be transplanted into the back garden.

In the planter I've got an olive, some Hidcote lavenders, a few Erigeron and a purple potato vine thrown in for good measure.  The plants are a bit new, but they should fill in in no time!

  1. That is going to be one fantastic vignette when it grows in.
Looking forward to another picture of it in a few months.

By the way, I read that you are a grad in woodworking from CCAC .... or I guess it is called something else now. Would love to see some of your work !
I attended one semester there and took a sculptural woodworking class (1979) along with a ceramics class with Viola Frey and a very strange class with Marvin the maniac humper Lipofsky ( I think he finally got fired, ... and not in the kiln )

  2. Hi Michelle!
I did get my BFA at CCAC in Wood Furniture headed by the amazing Donald Fortescue. Perhaps I'll post photos of some of the work I did there.
Although sounds like you had quite the experience there yourself! I've heard that Viola was incredible and have never heard about the legend of Marvin, thank goodness!
