Painterly Landscape

I'm doing a drive-by blogging here, but just wanted to share this photo I took at the Berkeley Botanical Garden.  I love the wide field of wind-swept grasses paired with the geometric Monkey Puzzle Tree- it's like standing in a painting where the artist swipes mounding swashes of thick paint over the canvas.

love the textural tapestry of the flowing watery grass undulating down the hillside.

  3. Beautiful trees, and although I occasionally see them here, it was quite remarkable travelling through South America seeing these planted in people's front gardens! I'd never seen so many! These are lovely specimens though.

  5. Thanks, guys! This is one of my favorite moments in the Botanical Garden. It's what landscape design should have more of- translating natural elements through a human lens. Naturally unnatural!
